Nepal, the country of Mount Everest, Highest peak of the world and the Land of Lord Buddha - The embodiment of Peace, is a developing Nation. In order to increase the pace of development, the Government of Nepal took a decision in 1993 to promote medical education and health care in relatively remote and underdeveloped areas of Nepal.

As a part of that program, permission was granted to Lord Buddha Educational Academy Ltd (LBEA), Nepalgunj to start a Medical College in a rural set up near Nepalgunj, the biggest industrial city in mid-western region of Nepal, only 6 km north of the Nepal-India Border town Rupaidiha District Baharaich, U.P. Thus -Nepalgunj Medical College- deriving its name from the above city was established under the agreement with the Government of Nepal in private sector in 1996 and the first batch of the students was admitted in December 1997. NGMC is affiliated to the Kathmandu University and approved and recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and the Government of Nepal. The first batch completed its course in July 2002.
